Ben Jones
Concert Orchestra Conductor

Ben Jones holds a B.A. with high distinction from the University of Illinois and is currently working toward an M.M. in Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he is the recipient of a major talent scholarship. Jones has appeared as a soloist in concert with the Shola Cantorum at both Notre Dame des Victoires and St. Dominic's Catholic Church in San Francisco, as a section leader and conductor with the University of Illinois Varsity Men's Glee Club, the acclaimed comedy octet: The Other Guys, which he directed in its 35th year in 2004, acclaimed soloists Alex DiFulvio and Nathan Gunn, and in workshop with Andrew Gant, director of the choir at the Chapel Royal of St. James' Palace, and Nico Castel, head coach for the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

His versatile voice can be heard on numerous albums, including a recent release on Albany Records. Jones spent multiple seasons as a cellist and as principal French Horn player with the Central Illinois Youth Symphony, and as a Trumpet player with the Peoria Jazz All-Stars. Jones received his training on the French Horn at Bradley University with Dr. David Vroman and Illinois State University with Joseph Neisler and on the Cello with Ko Iwasaki. He continues to train presently in conducting with Michael Morgan, Music Director of the Sacramento Philharmonic and the Oakland East Bay Symphony, and the Artistic Director for Festival Opera, Walnut Creek. Thanks to a generous arts grant through the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Jones currently conducts and coaches the orchestra at Presidio Middle School in San Francisco.
