Beaming with talent, dedication and passion, the Avant Flute Choir of the San Jose Youth Symphony organization has grown into a formidable ensemble over the past eight years. In the first year of existence the Avant flute choir consisted of 11, highly dedicated flutists, performing first-rate compositions while meeting the challenging and demanding repertory of Teresa Orozco-Petersen. The ensemble plays a well-rounded and eclectic curriculum for the eager performing flutists with performance opportunities that provide a rich diversity in musical selections ranging from Classical, 20th Century Music, Jazz, Pop and music of ethnic origin. Teresa has a unique and special approach to teaching and conducting, which fosters an ambiance of harmony and dedication. Today the choir stands at 26 members and is expected to grow exponentially with each passing season.
Concerts
The Avant Flute Ensemble performs 3 concerts per year. They also have the opportunity to perform at various community venues throughout the year. Concert admission is $5 for adults; $2.50 for students and seniors; and free for kids under 5.

Rehearsals
