All leaders of tomorrow will need what the Arts can give them today. We need to see and hear and feel the world. We need to lead with vision and passion. And these are the characteristics our community develops when we are encouraged to support and participate in the Arts.

Support the Symphony

Ticket revenue alone does not cover the cost of presenting symphonic programs nor pay for our education programs and community engagement efforts. We rely on your charitable support to help us meet those needs. Your contribution can help ensure a strong future for the San Jose Youth Symphony.

Parent Participation

Parent participation is extremely valued and essential to the continued success of the San Jose Youth Syumphony orchestra and ensembles. We rely on parental assistance to help us with the large number of tasks that are required to have a smooth running organization that consists of 300 musicians, conductors and staff. The San Jose Youth Symphony tuition covers approximately 1/3 of the operating budget, consequently we must look to our parents to assist the organization in being cost effective and to be run efficiently.

Parents agree to contribute 20 hours of their time to assist staff with these tasks. Some of the jobs can be completed during rehearsal, or at home, while others require more involvement in the office and are ideal for those who are looking for a more long term arrangement. A number of symphony tasks can earn tuition scholarships for those families willing to accept the responsibility for that task. Those students applying for a scholarship are required to volunteer some time and will be given first preference for those positions applicable to them.
